The new Shipley Christians Together CAP (Christians Against Poverty) Debt Centre managed by Thomas Knight is a great opportunity for us to give hope to people in Shipley through practical debt advice and offering people a chance to hear about the ultimate hope found in Jesus. We get to do this as a team, using our different gifts and skills and working together across different churches.
Here are 3 main ways you can get involved:
- Pray – the most essential work! We’ll be gathering a group to pray regularly for the centre, and to worship together as we see God move in people’s lives.
- Volunteer – Befrienders team – many people with debt problems face painful social isolation and we want to invite them into community. Our Befrienders will accompany the centre manager when visiting clients, come alongside them as friends, and help them out with practical tasks. As we grow in friendship, there’ll be opportunities to share our faith. You’ll get training for all this and we’ll work flexibly with the time and skills you have.
- Give – do consider if you can give financially to help keep the centre running, so we can reach those who most need our help for years to come.
The centre will be based at Northcliffe Church, Hall Royd, Shipley, BD18 3ED
