CuppaCare cafe to reopen in Shipley this Friday

A popular drop-in cafe in Shipley is reopening this Friday (September 10).

CuppaCare, based at Shipley Baptist Church, is staffed by volunteers on behalf of Shipley Churches Together. The cafe is open on Fridays from 10am to 1.15pm for the sale of soup, sandwiches, toasted tea cakes, tea and coffee. There is also a book stall selling Christian cards and books.

Edna Hague, who runs the cafe, said: “Everyone is very welcome, and we find people who are on their own particularly like the friendly atmosphere. It’s great to be returning after such a long absence due to Covid.”

CuppaCare is also appealing for more volunteers to support the cafe. Edna added: “Our volunteers find the work very rewarding. Anyone joining the team need not attend every week, or all the time – just an hour every so often would be appreciated, and you would soon make new friends.”

For more information or to volunteer, call Edna on 01274 586962.

Shipley Holiday Food

Shipley Holiday Food programme

Shipley Holiday Food

Shipley Holiday Food Programme: If you are worrying how you will afford food over the February half term and/or if your child gets free school meals, Shipley Christians Together is putting together healthy, nutritional meal boxes which will contain enough food for 5 breakfasts and 5 main meals for each person in your household. Households will be able to collect a meal box from a hub in central Shipley, or if you would struggle to collect it they can deliver it to your house (socially distanced etc). To arrange this confidentially, call or text 07423 575473, email shipleyholidayfood@gmail.com or send a private message on Facebook via the page www.fb.com/shipleyholidayfood. The inboxes and phone will be monitored from 9am-noon from Feb 9th until Feb 21st – if you leave a message outside these times someone will get back to you. The funding for the boxes has been provided by Bradford Council.
